Description
SODIUM CHLORITE + ACTIVATOR KIT 140 ML
Precursor for the in situ production of a biocide (chlorine dioxide), for exclusive use in the potabilization and disinfection of water for human or animal consumption. Precursor included in art. 95 of the EU 528/2012 Biocidal Products Regulation.
COMPOSITION
Aqueous solution of sodium chlorite NaCIO2 at 25%, precursor substance of a biocide (chlorine dioxide) obtained in situ by acidification with ACTIVATOR HCL 4%. The set consists of two containers, one of Sodium Chlorite (25%) and one HCl Activator (4%).
DIRECTIONS FOR USE AND DOSAGE
For drinking water disinfection:
One drop of Activator HCl is used for each drop of Sodium Chlorite (1:1). Dose 2 drops of sodium chlorite and 2 drops of activator for each liter of water to be treated, in a dry (non-metallic) container regardless of the number of activated drops. Wait a few seconds until a golden amber color is obtained. The mixture needs to be subsequently diluted in water. Add water (>150 ml) to stabilize the activated solution as soon as possible. The bright yellow color indicates the degree of saturation of the CIO2 gas that evaporates with time.
This yellowish solution should be diluted in the water to be treated as soon as possible to ensure maximum effectiveness, and left to act for at least 30 min. Do not consume treated water until the active chlorine level drops below 1.5 ppm. If the chlorine level is not measurable, repeat the operation until the level of active chlorine in the water is between 0.5-1.5 ppm. The amount of product to be dosed and the exposure time will always depend on the quality of the water to be treated. Use with caution, always read labels and product information. Store in a cool, dry place in an upright position.
Do not expose to sunlight to avoid degradation. It is not necessary to keep the containers in the refrigerator at reasonable temperatures when the ambient temperature is below 22-24º C.
For disinfection of surfaces and tools in food industries and other areas of private life and public health:
Mix in equal parts, in a clean and dry beaker (not metallic), 25 ml of Sodium Chlorite Solution NaClO2 (25%) and 25 ml of Activator HCl (4%), wait about 45-60 sec. until a golden amber color is obtained, and dilute the mixture in 5-10L in water, according to the level of soiling, in a closed container. In a ventilated place, apply this dilution on the surfaces by means of a cloth or mop, or by immersion of the tool. Leave on for at least 5 minutes and rinse with plenty of water before use.
CHARACTERISTICS
The package contains 140 ml Sodium Chlorite + Activator HCL 4%.
25% concentrated solution
Very high quality and purity.
Sodium chlorite should never be used alone. It should always be activated with a safe acid such as HCL 4%.
Mixing equal parts of sodium chlorite with an acid generates the biocidal disinfectant substance chlorine dioxide.
140 ml opaque container, to preserve all its quality and optimum conservation.
It is very important to take into account that exposing the contents to ultraviolet light deteriorates the product.
HAZARD STATEMENTS SODIUM CHLORITE
Use biocides safely. Always read the label and information on the biocide before use.
Acute Tox. 4: H302 – Harmful if swallowed Aquatic Chronic 1: H410 – Very toxic to aquatic life with long lasting effects. Eye Dam. 1: H318 – Causes serious eye damage Met. Corr. 1: H290 – May be corrosive to metals STOT RE 2: H373 – May cause damage to organs through prolonged or repeated exposure (Oral) EUH032: Contact with acids liberates very toxic gas.
